Chapter 921: Stinging Pain
“Ah…” Ranita instinctively tried to dodge, but Shannon pushed her from behind.
Ranita lost her balance and fell to the ground, scraping her knee and drawing a bit of blood.
“What are you doing…” Ranita couldn’t believe Chole would go this far, attacking her in public.
“Heh! Can’t you see? I’m bullying you!” Chole felt elated. “Aren’t you good at enduring? Because of that, our parents and brother always favor you. So just keep enduring!”Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Otherwise, making a scene will ruin this celebration!”
Chole clung to Shannon’s arm, looking down at Ranita with arrogance and disdain.
“Let’s see which fly comes over. If he’s decent, I’ll put in a good word with Mom so you can settle down and marry well.” Pausing, Chole maliciously asked Shannon, “Shannon, don’t you think so?”
Shannon’s face was innocent, but her words were cutting. “Of course, I hope Ranita finds a good match. If she does, I’ll definitely give her a large amount of wedding cash.”
“But Ranita, are you being fair to Brendon? He’s working hard abroad, earning money, while you’re here on a blind date. It’s really disheartening for Brendon!”
With that, the two laughed and walked away.
Ranita used a chair to help herself up. Her light blue dress, now stained with red wine, clung together in an unsightly mess.
Her knee was scraped and needed attention.
Sigh!
“Ranita, what happened?” Rodolfo suddenly appeared. “What’s going on…”
“It’s nothing! I just tripped.” Ranita didn’t mention the conflict with Chole in front of outsiders.
“Thank you for your concern, Mr. Hatfield. I need to take care of this.” Ranita planned to go to the lounge to fix her dress but felt weak as soon as she stood up.
Dizziness hit her, her heart raced, and she felt disoriented.
Ranita started to fall.
“Ranita!” Rodolfo caught her. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine…” Ranita’s head was spinning. She didn’t want to trouble Rodolfo but feared she might collapse halfway there.
“Do you want me to take you to the lounge to rest?” Rodolfo offered. “And you can clean your dress.”
Ranita frowned as Rodolfo’s arm wrapped around her waist. She felt uncomfortable and tried to break free. “No need, I can manage!”
Ranita stumbled a few steps, her heart racing like she had taken a stimulant. Her throat was dry and uncomfortable.
With a thud, Ranita bumped into a chair.
“Ranita!” Rodolfo rushed over to support her, his arm around her waist.
Ranita was fair-skinned and beautiful, a real beauty.
Being this close, Rodolfo couldn’t help but feel attracted. His gaze lingered on Ranita’s collarbone-her skin was white and tender, slender and sexy. If he could kiss it, it would be exhilarating!
“I should take you there,” Rodolfo insisted, his arm tightening around her waist. His voice remained calm, but his eyes betrayed him.
Ranita’s head pounded.
“No, I can walk myself!” Ranita took out her phone to call Jedidiah but was stopped by Rodolfo before she could dial.
