A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 901: Chasing Away

Ranita’s face was pale, her lips even whiter, and she looked completely drained of energy.

“Jedidiah… I didn’t… I just…” Ranita’s throat hurt, and her voice was stuck, barely able to make a sound.

Seeing Ranita so anxious, Jedidiah quickly handed her a glass of water. “Drink some more water! Is your throat uncomfortable?”

“If it is, don’t speak!” After a pause, Jedidiah gritted his teeth and said, “Don’t worry, I’ve already talked to Brendon.”

Just then, hurried footsteps approached.

Brendon rushed in, sweating profusely. “Ranita! Are you okay?”NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.

As soon as Jedidiah saw him grab Ranita’s hand, he angrily slapped it away. “What are you doing! Men and women should keep their distance. Don’t touch my sister’s hand.”

Brendon glared coldly at Jedidiah.

“My relationship with Ranita is not shallow…”

Ranita, fearing they would argue, quickly intervened and released Brendon’s hand. “Brendon, don’t say anything!”

“Jedidiah, he’s just worried about me. Don’t be mad.”

Ranita gave Brendon a look, and he reluctantly pursed his lips, refraining from any further intimate actions.

“How are you feeling?” Brendon had been unable to reach Ranita all day and was about to storm into Bowman’s Mansion when he received Jedidiah’s message that Ranita had been hospitalized with a high fever.

“I’m much better!” Ranita forced a smile. “Don’t worry, the fever has gone down!”

“But you still look unwell. Your throat is hoarse too.” Brendon’s deep eyes reflected her image, his mood visibly low.

Ranita felt both sour and sweet inside.

Brendon was very worried about her. This thought made her emotions soar like a roller coaster ride into the clouds.

She felt a bit uncomfortable but also very happy.

“I’m really fine. Just need to drink more water.”

Hearing this, Jedidiah couldn’t stand it anymore and snorted coldly. “Brendon, that’s enough! My sister is still sick and has to comfort you. It’s not you who’s ill!”

“If you’ve seen enough, then leave! Stop standing around here being annoying!”

Jedidiah made it clear he wanted Brendon gone.

Brendon frowned. “Mr. Bowman, I want to stay and take care of Ranita.”

“She has family; she doesn’t need your care!” Jedidiah said bluntly. “Stop talking so much or you’ll wake Ayaan.”

Brendon’s face darkened. He couldn’t argue with Jedidiah’s words; after all, he and Ranita were divorced, so it wasn’t his place to take care of her.

Ranita gently tugged on his sleeve. “I’m really fine. If you want to help lighten my burden, why don’t you help take care of Ayaan?”

“Jedidiah, you’re busy with work. Let him take care of Ayaan!”

Jedidiah pursed his lips but said nothing, which was as good as agreeing.

Brendon still didn’t want to leave. “Ranita…”

“Brendon, take Ayaan home to rest! I might need a couple of days to recover. Please take care of Ayaan during this time.”

“I’m not feverish anymore; I’ll be fine soon.”

Brendon was reluctant to leave, but Jedidiah didn’t want him to stay either.

After a moment of stalemate, Ranita pleaded with Jedidiah. “Jedidiah, I want to talk to him alone for a moment. Can you step out for a bit?”
