A Successful Career After Divorce

Chapter 891: Grievance

“Shannon!” Ranita caught up, angrily grabbing Shannon’s shoulder. “Stop right there!”

“I warn you, if you dare touch my family, I won’t let you off!” Ranita was furious.

“Won’t let me off? Haha… Come on, I’d like to see what you can do to me…” Shannon said as she grabbed Ranita’s hand and then deliberately bumped into a nearby waiter.

The waiter was carrying hot water, and when bumped, the water spilled onto Shannon’s thigh.

“Ah! It’s so hot, it hurts!” Shannon screamed. The restaurant manager rushed over to see what was happening.

Brendon also arrived.

“What happened?” Brendon asked, seeing Shannon on the floor in pain and tears. He hesitated for a moment before helping her up.

“Brendon…” Shannon cried pitifully, biting her lip and looking extremely aggrieved.

“This gentleman, this lady pushed someone into me!” The waiter explained in terror. “It’s not my fault!”

The waiter blamed Ranita.

“I didn’t push her!”

“You did! I saw it, and Miss Xu saw it too… You lost your temper and pushed someone, causing this guest to get burned. It’s not my fault.” The waiter, terrified, even brought a witness.

In the end, Ranita was blamed as the culprit.

Brendon frowned. “Say no more, let’s treat the wound first!”

Brendon helped Shannon to the restroom to rinse the burn with cold water, but Shannon kept complaining about the pain. Brendon had no choice but to take her to the hospital.

Ranita was there the whole time.

“Brendon, it hurts so much! There’s no one to take care of me… Can I stay at your place for a couple of days?” Shannon asked pitifully. “I’ll leave as soon as my assistant arrives.”

Brendon frowned. “It’s not convenient.”

“Brendon… But like this… Can you really leave me alone in the hotel?” Shannon’s tears rolled down. “Brendon, if it weren’t for Ranita, I wouldn’t be asking you this!”

Ranita couldn’t hold back any longer.

“Shannon, I didn’t push you! You…”

“I know you hate me, but why lie? You pushed me… The waiter and the cleaning lady can testify!”

Shannon’s tears flowed even more fiercely.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.

Ranita gritted her teeth. “I didn’t! Shannon, stop twisting the truth!”

“Ah! It hurts…” Shannon trembled and cried without answering any questions.

Ranita felt extremely upset and turned to leave.

“Ranita!” Brendon chased after her and grabbed her hand. “Ranita, where are you going?”

Ranita avoided his gaze, looking at Brendon with disappointment. “Brendon, do you believe Shannon? Do you also think I pushed her?”

“Ranita, don’t get excited! I didn’t say that…” Brendon tried to calm her down. “Don’t get excited, just talk to me calmly.”

“I didn’t push her!”

Brendon hugged her. “Okay, I understand! Don’t worry!”

Ranita felt a bit of warmth in her aching heart as if it had been gently soothed.

“Do you really believe me?” Ranita bit her lip, her lowered eyelashes hiding a lot of unseen sorrow.
