Chapter 880: Reassurance
Brendon understood the intermittent conversation. “Are you saying the Bowman family is organizing a matchmaking event for your mom?” He frowned, feeling increasingly agitated.
“Ayaan, don’t worry! I’ll call your mom and ask…” Brendon tried to comfort Ayaan but had to put it off as his meeting was about to start.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Brendon had come to Steland, and Kurima’s secretarial office had to send documents to him regularly, with some meetings postponed until now.
Ranita was also busy. After finishing a meeting with Brown, she was overwhelmed by a pile of emails. Fortunately, Olivia had recovered and could help.
By the time Brendon called, it was already dark. His deep voice was as captivating as the setting sun outside. “Ranita, what are you doing?”
“Just finished my work. How about you?” Ranita’s lips curved into a smile, her heart filled with joy. This must be the power of love, she thought. It felt like she was always full of energy, and just hearing his voice made her happy.
“I just finished too! I’m about to head back. Have you eaten? Do you want to bring Ayaan out for dinner?”
Knowing that Ayaan hadn’t seen Brendon for several days, Ranita hesitated but agreed. Brendon booked a family-friendly restaurant. The food wasn’t exceptional, but it had plenty of activities for kids, including a playground. Ayaan went wild as soon as they arrived.
While Ayaan played, Brendon and Ranita sat eating and drinking coffee, feeling quite at ease. “How was your day?” Brendon asked.
“Not bad! Why?” Ranita chose not to share her worries with him.
Brendon leaned in and gently rubbed her waist. “Really nothing?”
“Really nothing!” Ranita blushed. “We’re in public; be mindful!”
There were many children around, and she didn’t want to set a bad example. Brendon sneakily pinched her waist and gave her a quick kiss, leaving a coffee-flavored taste. “I heard the Bowman family is organizing a matchmaking event for you? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“How did you know?” Ranita looked at Brendon in surprise, then realized and gritted her teeth. “Ayaan, that little traitor! He tells you everything!”
Brendon fed her a fry. “Ayaan is just worried about you.”
Ranita ate the fry from his hand, her tongue accidentally brushing his fingers. His gaze immediately turned dark and intense. Feeling the heat on her back, Ranita grabbed a napkin and held his hand. “Don’t look at me like that!”
Brendon wiped his hand clean and gave her a quick kiss. “Alright, I’ll let you off in public for now.”
Ranita playfully punched him. “Can’t you be serious for once?”
“Okay! Let’s talk about this matchmaking event. What’s going on?” Brendon returned to the topic. Ranita hesitated before sipping her coffee and finally said, “It’s not really a matchmaking event. My dad’s health has improved, so we’re having a celebration party.”
“Oh? A celebration party, with an added bonus of finding a son-in-law?” Brendon’s voice had a hint of jealousy.
Seeing his reaction made Ranita feel better but also guilty. “No! I’m not interested in anyone else.” She reassured him, “Are you relieved now?”
Brendon stared at her with dark eyes before suddenly hugging her gently.
