A Relentless Pursuit for Love

Chapter 60

Chapter 60

Julian had phrased the retort to be as harsh as possible to deter people from further making fun of him.

Scoffing, Julian buttoned up his suit. Just as he was about to sit down, he heard the auction master say, “Eight million dollars!”

The crowd gasped and exclaimed in surprise.

Julian felt his legs go weak. He turned around to see an attractive man dressed all in black holding up a sign. The man was even smiling smugly at him as if he was provoking him.

“Who is that?” Julian asked his friends.

One of his friends gulped before replying, “I think it’s Yoel Fulton, the youngest son of the Fulton family of Riverside City.”

The auction master continued the bid in an attempt to see if anyone was willing to offer a higher price. “One hundred million dollars,” said a man with a low voice. He was seated next to Yoel, and he was holding up his sign.

Suddenly, the hall fell silent.

Julian glared furiously at the man who was sitting in the comer. He could not see the man’s face clearly, but he was sure that the two men were trying to humiliate them.

Irritated, Julian snarled, “And who is that?”

His friend peered at them and said weakly, “I think that is… Jace Yuriel, the CEO of the Yuriel Group from Nadeem City.”

Julian’s legs gave way, and he fell back into his seat.

Yoel mocked, “Mr. Julian, don’t back out now. Didn’t you say that you must have the necklace? I’m excited to know how much you’re willing to spend on it.”

Looking at Jace, he then continued, “I’m not interested in the emerald at all. But that necklace had belonged to Sage, and she has wom it. I think it’s with the money. I must have that necklace to myself.”

Anger flickered across Jace’s eyes as he replied firmly, “What a coincidence, me too.”

“A hundred million going once, going twice-”

“100.1 million dollars!”

Julian shouted as he glanced coldly at Yoel and Jace. His friends wanted to stop him as they knew that the Fultons and the Yuriels were not people that they should be messing with.

“I don’t care how powerful the Fulton family and the Yuriel family are. In Salem City, the Jefferson family is the most powerful and influential. I will not back down.”

Julian sounded confident.

Nevertheless, his confidence was immediately shattered by Yoel and Jace.

Unbothered by Julian, Jace and Yoel continued bidding.

“100.5 million!”

“100.8 million!”

“100.9 million!”

The bid was the highest it had ever been, and the auction master was getting excited. Everyone was looking at Jace and Yuriel as they wondered who they were.

Luther too was stunned. Staring at the two men who had no intentions of giving up, he said, “What are they up to?”

Sage looked gloomy, and there was not a trace of happiness to be found on her face.

Sage had taken her parents’ instructions to heart, so she did not like show-offs, and their childish behavior did not do them any favors. Just the thought of her necklace in either of their hands made her uncomfortable.

She nodded at Hunter and Hunter immediately raised his sign, saying, “200.1 million dollars.”

Jace and Yoel turned their heads at the same time to look at Sage.

Without even looking at them, Sage nodded at the auction master and the auction master hurriedly ended the bidding at 200.1 million dollars.

Thanks to them, she had to pay 200.1 million dollars for her own emerald necklace which was valued at seven million dollars. Sage did not mind the loss as she planned to get her money back from the guys.
