A Relentless Pursuit for Love

Chapter 54

Chapter 54

He still could not get used to Sage being this sharp-tongued.

He had always remembered Sage as a well-mannered and well-behaved woman. Being short- tempered, he used to always lash out a t Sage, but she had never gone against him. She had merely silently bom his anger.

However, the woman standing in front of him looked nothing like the Sage that he had once known. Instead, she looked ill tempered and more menacing than him.

“Weak and frail? Who are you referring to? Sienna Zelda?”

Jace’s series of questions managed to drag her mood down into the slumps.

Even though Sienna had lied to him, humiliated him during their wedding, and had proven to him that she was not as naive as he thought, to Jace, Sienna was still the most important person in his life.

Sage did not want to talk to Jace anymore. After all, there was nothing left to say. Scoffing, Sage simply smoothened her hair and walked away.

She could not bring herself to be in the same space as him. She was worried that she would make a fool of herself, and she was worried that she would not be able to hold back.

She would rather give up her love for him rather than be reduced to a pathetic woman. Material © NôvelDrama.Org.

Seeing the dismayed expression on Sage’s face as she walked away without a word, Jace was worried that he might have said something wrong. He tried to follow Sage, but she had vanished.

Furrowing his brows tightly, Jace had once again forgotten to ask what he wanted to.

Passing by a waiter with a tray of red wine, Sage grabbed a glass and finished the wine in one gulp.

The cold liquid soothed her burning and aching heart. Sage was gradually able to calm down.

There was still some time before the dinner officially started. Sage chose to sit at the corner of the room as she had wanted to avoid the crowd. She had never been good at socializing. Around her, groups of people were talking amongst each other. Uninterested in their gossip, Sage silently drank her wine as she went through the contents of her phone.

There was one particular group of ladies who were extremely loud. Those chatterboxes went on about literally everything from the news surrounding wealthy families, which people got married or divorced, and so on.

Sage had tried her best to not listen to their rambling and babbling, but they were talking too loudly for her to completely ignore them.

“Did you hear that Sage Norah, the eldest daughter of the Norah Group, has returned?”

“Of course! That made the Salem City news headlines! It looks like she was able to clean up the mess her family had made as soon a s she had returned. However, no one has been able to see her.”

“Don’t you find it suspicious that she suddenly showed up, all well and alive after three years of being declared dead? I really wonder what she had been doing in those three years. Could it be that she had gotten pregnant before she could get married, and she had disappeared so that she could give birth to the kid in secret?”

“Goodness, it might be true! Do you remember the times when Julian Jefferson was head over heels in love with Sage, and she had rejected him? I heard from Yeva that Sage’s parents had gone all the way

to Nadeem to ask Jace to marry their daughter. Isn’t the reason for that move obvious?”

“She must certainly be pregnant then, hahaha…”

The lady was laughing away when she felt someone tapping her shoulder. Tuming around, she was immediately met with a glass o f red wine. The wine glass shattered as it made contact with her head.

The lady shrieked in horror as she met the eyes of the woman standing in front of her. The woman was dressed in red, and she was glaring at her. “Ah!” Shouts and screams pierced the room.
