A Relentless Pursuit for Love

Chapter 44

Chapter 44

She took a sip from the bottle of water that Hunter passed her. Turning to Yoel with a look of disgust she said, “You just really don’t know when to stop, do you? You are really starting to look greasy and cringy now.”

Yoel’s face crumbled. He was in his prime and here he was being described as greasy and cringy.

Today, he had been the recipient of too many insulting “daggers” from Sage and being the vindictive person he was, Yoel had to return the favor, “At this very moment, I bet my dear old Jace is sitting in front of his laptop feeling defeated. I feel so sorry for my dear old friend.”

Furrowing her brows tightly together, Sage asked, “Who?”

“Jace. Jace Yuriel. Your ex-husband.”

Yoel enunciated the words carefully, and every word that he said was like a dagger thrust into Sage’s heart.

“He asked me to dig up some information on you, but I didn’t agree to his request. I’m guessing that he had decided to take matters into his own hands.”

“You’re telling me that the person with such lame hacking skills is Jace Yuriel?” said Sage in disbelief.

Yoel could not contain his laughter and nearly choked on his own saliva.

The only person who dared call Jace’s hacking skills lame was Sage.

Sage turned on her laptop and checked the IP address of her opponent, and the address clearly showed that her opponent was in Yuriel mansion in Nadeem City.

Yoel was still laughing his heart out as he tried to defend Jace. “Jace has not been using his hacking skills. Plus, he was a sniper when he served in the military. It’s understandable that his hacking skills aren’t as polished when compared to yours.”

Sage was rendered speechless.

Jace was standing by the window, smoking a cigarette. He wore a dark and grave expression.

He admitted that his skills were not as polished as they once used to be. It would take him some time to figure out how to crack Sage’s encrypted profile, but he could not understand why she would go through such lengths to hide her identity.

What was she trying to hide?

Which expert was working alongside her?

Perhaps, he would need to visit Salem City to get his questions answered.

Putting out the cigarette, Jace dialed a number on his phone.

Yoel was in the middle of badmouthing Jace when his phone rang. He smiled when he saw who was calling. “Speak of the devil.”

At the sight of Jace’s number, Sage felt her chest tighten.

“Hey…” Yoel picked up the call.

Yoel looked at Sage with a smirk as Sage glared intently at him. “You’re as good as dead if you say anything,” mouthed Sage to Yoel.

She proceeded to slide a finger across her throat in waring.

Yoel wanted to laugh so badly when he saw how nervous Sage was. On the other end was Jace, and he sounded solemn. “Didn’t you say that you are interested in buying land on the outskirts of Salem City in order to run a horse racing business? Count me in.” Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

“The land belongs to someone else, and I’m still in the middle of negotiation.”

Yoel then stole a glimpse at Sage who was still glaring furiously at him. He suddenly had an idea that with Jace in the picture. There would be a chance to secure a deal with Sage.

“Cut the nonsense. So are you in?” said Jace who was already feeling impatient. With a smirk, Yoel replied, “Of course.”
