A Promising Youth

Chapter 17 The Sinister Carrie

Chapter 17 The Sinister Carrie

The next morning, when I had just woken up, Clara was busy in the kitchen. She had cooked eggs,

steamed buns and a big bowl of millet congee.

“Come on over and eat.”

She untied her apron and smiled at me. It was particularly beautiful, like the sun on a spring day.

But I didn't dare to look at her at all. I was afraid that what happened back then was known by Clara,

after all, what she hated most was the robber!

“Why do you keep your head down? Just treat this place as your own home, don't be formal!”

She smiled, peeled an egg and handed it to me. She added.

“I feel close to you, you are like a long-lost brother to me.”

I nodded in response, dreading her talking to me about what I'd been going through these past five

years.

Luckily not long after, her phone rang, “Nancy, what's up? What? No way. It must be Carrie ......”

After a series of questions, she hung up the phone with a pale face and was about to cry.

I hurriedly asked.

“Sis, what's wrong?”

She took a deep breath, calmed herself and said.

“The company borrowed some people's money. They know our company has the project, so they were

in the factory door to collect debts.”

I instantly understood that this must be done by Carrie. If the money was taken by the debt collectors,

then what else can we take to produce?

The workers won’t work if they had not been paid.

“Is there something else?” I asked, frowning.

“Uncle Lau was there too, saying that you infringed on that formula, and now he wants to confront you

and intends to sue you.”

At this point, she suddenly put down her chopsticks, grabbed my arm hard and asked.

“Matteo, did you steal that formula from someone?”

I shake my head confidently.

“No!”

She added.

“If not, then why are you afraid to sell? Who could refuse such a temptation of five million pounds? I

don't believe it. You worked out this formula. You helped me, so I didn't dare ask, but that doesn't mean

I am a fool.”

“Sis, I did not. Let's go to the office right now, I dare you to confront them face to face!”

These bastards, they thought I was easy to be bullied!

Master once advised me not to offend others, but I should not afraid of troubles!

I must live like a man!

But Clara pinched me hard and said.

“What are you talking about? Matteo, I know you were kind to help me, so I don’t blame you! Run now

and hide yourself. Never go to the office, never!” Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.

When she finished, she opened the fridge, took some fruit and snacks, put them all in a bag, and

grabbed two eggs from the table.

“Go now, take these on the way. Don't let them catch you. If they really sue you, it will be a big deal!”

At that moment, looking at her in a hurry, I shed tears. Since childhood, no one had been concerned

about me, cared about my well-being, and this pretty gril pulled me and ran in panic.

“Sis, let go, listen to me, okay?”

When we got outside the community, I broke away from her and said.

“We have no time now... By the way, here's my number. Contact me when you are safe.”

She hurriedly pulled a pen out of her bag and wrote a series of numbers on my hand.

Then she waved for a cab, shoved me in and said.

“Don't be afraid, you are educated and got the skills. Find a job.

As long as you don’t use that formula, they will let you go.

I wiped my tears and said.

“Sis, what will you do if I leave?!”

She clasped her hands to her chest, took a deep breath and said.

“I will be fine. Don't cry, go now. Sir, take him to the railway station.”

As the taxi pulled up the avenue, I wiped my tears. I wasn't crying because I was scared, I was moved!

I didn't expect that she cared me so much. In this time of crisis, I won’t leave, I will help you defeat

those who were plotting against you!

“Sir, go to the development zone, Blue Butterfly Textile Factory!”

Taking a long breath, I grit my teeth.

But the road we took was stuck in traffic for over an hour with a car accident in front of us and in the

morning rush hour.

It was more than 10 a.m. when I arrived in the company. The factory was surrounded by a lot of people,

including some strong men's arms with tattoos, who was specifically hired to collect debts!

As I walked, I gritted my teeth in indignation. Carrie was vicious. If I did not appear today, or if I lost the

use right of ‘General Grey’, she would be able to regain the project from Clara. Under double pressure

of workers and debtors, it would force Clara to sell the factory immediately to pay off the debt!

It would drive Clara to the end of her career!

So I had to show up to help Clara to get it through.

I walked quickly into the office building, and from a distance, I could hear the noise from the office.

“You're reliable! Where is he? How dare he steal technology to flaunt it in front of me? I feel ashamed!”

That was Director Lau's voice.

“He ran away and got on the train early this morning, so you can't find him.”

Clara's voice was cold.

“Run away? He took other’s technology and used it for commercial production. He's committing a

crime! Now that the Stone Family comes to us, what should we do? Tell me, where did he go? He has

to give everyone an explanation!”

“I don’t care! I can’t do anything about it!”

After pushing the door open, I glared directly at Director Lau. I said that no one could scold Clara in

front of me, even her father!

In the next moment, the entire office was silent. Carrie was the first to laugh out loud, raise her hand

and point at me, saying,

“You are silly!”

Afterwards, Director Lau slammed the coffee table and stared at me with red eyes, saying.

“You dare to come, huh? Police officer, it's this bastard who steals the technology, arrest him!”
