Chapter 91
Chapter 91
Angela’s POV
I was at the shopping mall the following morning, trying to get some groceries for my mom and for me. A part of me wanted to stock up even before it was announced that everyone should stock up on their pantries and their fridges because we couldn’t really say if there’d be a lockdown sooner or later.
I brought some ice cream that I knew was Darius and Reina’s favorite. They have almost a similar taste for food and it was always funny to me. I bought some rice, and pasta as well as other things. I would also get to the pharmacy later to pick up some drugs for my mom. The new doctor changed some of the prescriptions Zack gave to her. He said they were too strong.
I still don’t understand why Zack wouldn’t be coming back to the pack. My mom asked if I had idea why and I told her I didn’t. I wouldn’t want to question Darius about it because I trusted his decisions. Not blindly though but to a fault.
“What did you and Alpha Darius discuss this morning?”
any
My ears pecked up at the mention of Darius‘ name. I looked between the cartons of cereal to find out who it was. I knew eavesdropping was bad but I just couldn’t help it.
Daisy was standing beside the milk shelf together with two other girls. I couldn’t recognize who they were but I was sure I’d seen them around the pack once or twice.
“I can’t tell you guys,” she replied sheepishly.
One of them nudged her on the shoulder. “Come on, Daisy. You can trust us, we won’t tell anyone,”
“I’m not supposed to discuss this with anyone yet. It’s a plan in progress,”
The girls looked at her curiously. She smiled brightly before she answered. “He’ll be announcing me as his Luna soon,”
Her friends squealed.
I held onto the trolley tightly as I bit down on my tongue. I couldn’t believe my ears. It was even more difficult to believe what she had just said.
His Luna? Darius would never do such a thing.
What a ridiculous bullshit!
Angrily, I took my cart to the payment section, paid for the things I bought, and hurried to my mom’s place.
“What’s wrong, Angela?” My mom asked as soon as she saw me struggling with the bags.
“Nothing,” I replied curtly.

She pulled my arm. “Something is wrong, talk to me,”
“I heard something about Darius and it’s getting on my nerves,”
“Have you tried asking him?”
I turned to her. “What?” Then I shook my head once her question registered in my brain. “No,”
She clicked her tongue. “You guys are so in love but lack communication. Love isn’t enough between mates. Communication as well matters. When you hear something uncomfortable abo your mate, the best thing to do is ask them, not assume the worst and believe what you hear,”
“I don’t believe what I heard,”
“But…”
“But I can’t get it out of my head and I find it hard to believe such a thing could happen and it’s eating at me and…”
“And you should go talk to him,”
I wanted to agree but I changed my mind within a minute.
“Not now. Now is not a good time. I’m sure he’s busy with the Pack affairs,”
“Now is a perfect time, Angela. Doubt is like a seed, don’t let it grow and bear fruits in your heart. It’ll only turn to hatred,”
She was able to convince me to talk to Darius about it. I reluctantly walked myself to his office. His warrior secretary was not there and his office door was wide open so I let myself in.
He was also inside, standing beside the light table and staring at a map or a document.
“Darius,”
‘He turned to me. He couldn’t hide the surprise.
“My Angel. I wasn’t expecting you here,”
I shrugged. Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
“Came to spy on your Alpha,” he asked rhetorically.
I laughed.
“Since you’re a sexy ass spy, I can deal,” he walked towards me and kissed me on my temple.
“I came here to talk to you,”
“About what?” He walked back to the light table. I’m busy right now, can we talk at home later?”

“I just want to ask a question and all I need is a yes or no answer,”
“Okay, go ahead baby,” be answered. His mind was on the map he was staring at.
“Did you tell Daisy you’ll be making her your Luna?”
He looked up at me. I couldn’t tell if he was shocked or confused.
“How did you hear about that?”
What! “So, it is true,”
“No one was supposed to know about that,”
I nodded. “Yeah, sure,”
I was so disappointed I could beg for the ground to open up and swallow me whole. I wasn’t only disappointed at Darius but also at myself.
“You shouldn’t bother yourself about something like that, My Angel,”
“What? I’m your mate and you’re about to make someone else your Luna. Are you trying to make a mockery of me? Is this because I told you my wolf wasn’t perfect?”
Before he could say anything, I continued. “I get it! I’m not the daughter of a Beta like she is and neither do I even have a wolf. I haven’t even been a member of this pack for the past five years like she has and I didn’t even know your late wife like she does. So, to be honest, she beats me hands down in every aspect I can think of,”
It hurts but it was the truth. It was the reality, my reality. I was not perfect for Darius.
“Baby, you need to calm down. It’s not what you think but we can’t talk about it here. Can we talk about it at home?”
I swallowed hard.
“You asked me yesterday if you could trust me, right?”
“Yes, baby,”
“Can I trust you too, Darius?”
“If you’re willing to and if that’s the case, you can trust me with your life,”
That was enough for me. “It’s not what you think and it’s not even about me or you or Daisy. It’s a different scenario but I need you to trust me till I get home, will you be able to do that baby?”
I walked towards him and took his palm to kiss it.
“Yes, I’ll trust you, Darius, even with my
my life,”
