Chapter 589 A Clue
Chapter 589 A Clue
As there were almost countless islands with habitable conditions around the world, what was worse,
where John had headed to was still unknown, it took quite a lot of time to check those islands one by
one. So they still got none information about him.
“I should be the one who expressed my gratitude to me.” Said Daniel.
“You have been bothered for half a year because of me and Stella. If it weren’t for us, you would have
settled down your own business with Lily much earlier. Louis, thank you.”
Leigh started to yell, “Hey, Daniel, come on. Don’t turn a blind eye to my hard work! I have been
bothered as well! What I have done should be equal to Louis’s. Why don’t you say thanks to me?”
Daniel was amused and pounded his fist with Leigh’s while saying, “Thank you.”
Coffey then served them coffee.
With his eyes fixed on the steaming mellow coffee, Louis didn’t take the cup. He assumed if Lily had
grown much on her belly as it had been two months.
A sense of dizziness suddenly struck his brain. Then he placed his hand against his forehead.
Not until quite a while did Louis say again, “I have been to Country Y for Burnell’s funeral a week ago.
All members of the Krisliers have attended. But John hasn’t.”
The Krislier Family had been one among those ancient clans in Country Y with a great portfolio and
high reputation.
The death of the president of Krislier Group, Burnell Krislier, had astonished the world. John must be
one of those who heard of the bombshell. So his absence should be of his own choice.
Daniel asked, “Did Burnell make a will?”
“Yes. His attorney has announced his will in front of all the Krisliers.” Louis then continued, “He made
John the inheritor of all, including every single property and even the whole family.”
“But John didn’t show up. It was Jonathan who took charge of Krislier Group temporarily with the
reason that John was still under recovery abroad. Part of those shareholders follow the will of Burnell.
So they show their support to John. Even though Jonathan is now the acting director of the group. He
still fails to manipulate his power. The shares for John have been frozen. So he couldn’t even get a
penny from it.”
Louis also sent his men to guard when attending the funeral. He assumed there would be a rebellion
initiated by Jonathan if Burnell granted John the overall inheritance.
But actually, Burnell had even foreseen all these. He had cleared every threat for John. So Jonathan
still failed to get the group under his control.
“Burnell really showed great bias for John. He left him everything.” Leigh added while rubbing against
his own jaw, “If I were Jonathan, I would also hold the same feud against John under such bias.”
Louis said with cold voice while contemplating, “Jonathan has been fighting John for years. But now
John still got everything. He would never be resigned to it. So he must be conspiring.”
“If he wants to take over Krislier, he has to figure out something to make John sign on the letter of
commitment, which is to waive his right over the will.” Said Daniel. Then he frowned, “So he will spare
no endeavor to look for John.”
Leigh suddenly cut in, “We all know how much he hates John. Is it possible that he may kill John as
soon as he got the letter signed by him?”
Louis cast a horrible glimpse at him.
“Louis, come on, you freak me out! That’s highly possible.” Said Leigh with serious voice. He
continued, “Jonathan must have planted a lot of his men to keep an eye on John. So he will probably
find him before us.” Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Hearing that, Coffey was agitated, “I will have my men spy on Jonathan’s to see if we have any clues.
My sister is now pregnant with triplets. She would have to face more danger than other ladies with
common pregnancy.”
“No wonder you look so familiar to me.” Daniel now recognized him, “What brought such a big change
on your face?”
“He was in a state of suspended animation after he killed Meghan. And he turned into what he was now
after taking Justin’s pills.” Leigh explained for him, “I got himself another identity and stay with Chloe
since he returned.”
Daniel took a look at Coffey and said, “I thought she chose an old guy out of tantrum.”
Coffey was rendered speechless. Then he touched his face.
But he never deemed himself too ugly to be fed up with. He couldn’t help wondering why everyone
around him still showed disdain when looking at his face.
Louis was rendered much more agitated while hearing what Coffey just said. So he could only turn to
Coffey and stay cautious still.
As their conversation just stopped, Louis’s phone rang.
“Mr. Smith, something goes wrong!” it was a call from Catherine. He gasped with serious breath, “Just
after you have left, David arranged a press conference and committed himself the crime of being the
traitor who leaked our project with Ocean International and also other confidential projects involved.
The police arrested him even though we tried hard to stop.”
“What’s wrong with him?” Louis wore an overcast face.
He had never expected David, who had been working for him for all these years, to run into such a silly
choice.
Of course, he knew that Davil chose to be a scapegoat himself.
Catherine hurried to say, “The press has released the news much earlier than we expected. Our men of
Public Relation have tried hard to cope with it. But we still fail to put a cease on our declining stock
price. When will you be back, sir?”
Louis huffed, “Leave it to the Public Relation. I won’t be back for it. I need to go to the police office
later.”
“Yes, sir.”
As Louis hung up the phone, Leigh asked, “Something wrong with your company?”
“No!” Louis sent a photo of Sofia to Leigh and required with a cold face, “Show me everything about
her, including what, when and where from the date of her birth!”
Leigh took out his phone and saw a photo of a gorgeous lady, whom he even knew about.
“She is the lady working for you, right? Her name should be Sofia Jones, I suppose…”
But suddenly, Leigh came into a pause as he seemed to notice something important. He zoomed in the
photo and stared at her brows penciled, which failed to align each other because her two brow ridges
were on different levels.
It suddenly occurred to him of what he had extracted from Jana after torturing her for almost a month—
though she said it was a fair lady, she found herself difficult to recall her face. But she still remembered
that woman had her own brows penciled on different levels. And it seemed that her special brow ridges
were the reason.
But before that, what he got from Jana did little help only. Then Leigh also managed to find all women
who had contacted Jana and showed her their pictures. However, none of them were the culprit.
“Louis.” As Leigh was about to ask more from Louis. He noticed that Louis had left as he turned
around. He looked at the photo and didn’t seem to build any suspicion about Sofia.
After all, Sofia wasn’t one of his enemies. Nor did Sofia know Jessie. He didn’t deem that she had
made a plan for Jana.
What was more, Sofia wasn’t powerful enough to be deemed as the culprit.
As Louis drove to the police office, he had a talk to the police and went to see David in the detention
room.
As he entered, the police led him to David’s compartment. He saw David through the iron gate, who sat
on the bed with arms around his knees. He seemed to be ruminating.
Louis stood still in front of the gate and said, “David.”
David looked up and saw Louis standing there. Not until quite a while did he get off the bed and stood
in front of him face to face.
David struggled to utter, “Mr. Smith…”
“You have been working for me for all these years and I know you from the inside.” Louis fixed his eyes
on him and continued, “You would never leak anything about us. Did you find out something?”
David kept silent.
Louis stepped forward to approach. He looked much more suffocating, “Do you know that it was Sofia
who instigated my mother to kill Stella?”
Again, David only showed silence.
Seeing that, Louis could tell the answer. He sneered, “You know that she is the culprit. You try to keep it
from me and you choose to be her scapegoat, right?”
