Chapter 535: You're Really Having a Hard Time Carrying the Baby
Chapter 535: You're Really Having a Hard Time Carrying the Baby
Half an hour later, Chace brings her back home.
He leads Jessie into the house and says to her, "I've got things to deal with in Yorkshire, so I can't
come often. Call me if you need anything. If you want to go anywhere, tell the servant. I've paid a high
price for her to take care of you, so don't think it will be troublesome, OK?"
"I see." Jessie follows him in.
She touches the shoe cabinet beside her. Just as she is about to change shoes, Chace stops her. "Let
me do it for you."
Chace takes off the flats on her feet and puts on cotton slippers for her.
Jessie feels embarrassed. She wants to say thank you, but she is afraid that Chace will be unhappy.
She purses her lips and asks him, "Your company is also in Yorkshire. Do you know HS Company?"
She hasn't contacted Lily since she has arrived in Country Y.
"I do. It's a cosmetics company." After Chace changes her shoes, he changes into his own slippers.
"Recently, a big event has happened in HS Company. You probably don't know."
"What's that?"
"In Yorkshire is HS Company's branch. They changed a new CEO and a vice president a few months
ago. The new CEO is of mixed race. He is going to get married to the vice president, Lily, and just as
they went into church ... Guess what?"
Chace clicks his tongue and says excitedly, "Mr. Smith actually goes to take the bride away! Holy shit, I
was really shocked at that time. I know there have been rumors about Lily and Mr. Smith's relationship,
but what Mr. Smith did is far beyond expectation."
Jessie exclaims in shock. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
After she lost her sight, she barely listened to news channel and didn't even know about this big event.
So Lily and John almost got married.
After a while, she asks Chace, "What happened next? Did they get married?"
"Mr. Smith was there, how could they get married anyway?" As Chace speaks, he can't help but sigh,
"The PR of the Smith Group is so amazing. They sealed off all the information within a few hours so
few people knew about it."
He asks Jessie curiously, "Why are you asking me about HS Company? Do you have friends working
there?"
"Yes." Jessie replies vaguely. She is absent-minded and because she is blind, she does not notice the
steps, and suddenly she kicks it and pounces forward.
Chace is right beside her. When he sees that she is about to fall, he quickly reaches out and hugs her
waist, bringing her into his arms.
Her head hits his chest, causing him to hiss in pain.
"I, I'm sorry." Jessie apologizes in panic.
She doesn't know where she has hit him. As she can't see him, she waves her hand in the air, trying to
touch him, and says, "Where did I hit you? Does it hurt?"
Chace grabs her hand.
Feeling the warmth of her hand, Chase feels that his heart has skipped a beat, so he quickly lets go of
it. "I'm fine," he says, coughing, "There's a staircase here. You didn't notice it just now. But, luckily, you
didn't get hurt."
At this time, the servant comes downstairs and happens to see Chace and Jessie at the entrance.
"Sir, madam, welcome back." The servant sees the shopping bag in Chace's hand, smiles and says,
"Sir, you should take madam out for a walk more often as she's so bored at home."
Chace has been used to the titles anyway. He says, "But I'm busy with my work, so I may need you to
take care of her and take her out for walks."
"Yes, sir." The servant nods and says to Jessie, "Madam, your pajamas are ready."
"Alright, thank you."
Jessie tells Chace that she will go upstairs first. Then she waves her hands in the air to find the
direction before slowly walking towards the stairs.
Chace wants to help her, but he is afraid that it will hurt her self-esteem.
Seeing her find the handrail and slowly walks upstairs, Chace feels pitiful for her. He wonders why such
a beautiful woman will be blind. It is too unfair.
When the servant sees that Chace is still there, she asks, "Sir, aren't you going up to help Madam?"
"But she can do it."
"For god's sake!" The servant looks at him as if looking at a fool, "She is your wife. She can't see, and
you don't come often. Why don't you go up to accompany her and help her bathe?"
Chace is so embarrassed that he almost chokes on his own saliva.
If she were really his wife, he would have gone without the reminder of the servant. But she is not his
wife!
"It's OK. She seems to be fine. She can handle it herself." Chace coughs, feeling somewhat
embarrassed. "Oh right, clean up the side bedroom for me. I'll sleep there tonight."
The servant peeks at Chace with mock and goes upstairs.
Chace, "..."
The servant may think him as a scumbag, he thinks.
Afraid that Dahlia will come upstairs to check, Chace takes a photo of the clothes he bought for Jessie
today, posts it online, writes some romantic words, and then sets the post to be visible only to his good
friends and Dahlia.
The cooperation between him and Jessie may end at any time, so the fewer friends know, the better it
will be.
After the servant cleans up the side bedroom, she goes downstairs to report to Chace.
Chace puts away his phone and carries the shopping bags upstairs. He goes to the master bedroom
where Jessie lives and knocks on the door.
"Come in."
Chace then pushes open the door and enters.
Jessie seems to have washed up, and is lying in bed listening to music in her silk pajamas.
"I bring the clothes up." Chace says, "Where should I place them? In the closet?"
Jessie nods, "You don't have to do it in person. Just ask the servant."
"It's fine. I've brought it up anyway." Chace pulls the wardrobe open and sees a row of colorful clothes.
It must be what his mother has bought for Jessie.
Even though his mother lives an exquisite life, her dressing style depends entirely on the stylist, and
her taste in fashion is actually very bad.
If he were Jessie, he would never touch these clothes.
Chace takes out the clothes and hangs them on the rack while peeking at Jessie on the bed.
"Do you go to bed so early every night while listening to the music?"
"Yeah, sometimes I feel uncomfortable in the early hours of the morning. When I wake up, I will retch."
Jessie helplessly says, "So I go to bed early and use music to hypnotize the baby."
Chace feels sympathetic for her, "You're really having a hard time carrying the baby."
He then closes the wardrobe and walks towards the bed. He can't help but say to Jessie, "Well, why
don't you call your boyfriend over to pick you up?"
Jessie looks towards him and says confusingly and nervously, "Do you want me to leave?"
"No, no." Chace feels like a heartless man, "I'm very busy. I might only be able to come here once or
twice a month, so I can't be there for you always."
"I heard that women tend to think too much when they're pregnant. I'm afraid you'll be alone at home all
day and think nonsense. If something happened to you, I would feel guilty."
"So that's what you're worried about." Jessie knows that he is trying to be considerate for her, so she
smiles and consoles him, "I can draw, listen to books, and do many things on my own. Don't worry. I'm
not that fragile."
"Really?"
"Really." Jessie nods, "Look, I was almost ... and I survived, didn't I?"
She puts her hand on her belly and whispers, "I am in a foreign country, so I can only rely on you.
Please ... help me. When my friend gets her things done, I'll call her and leave."
