After knocking again twice, the door finally pushed open revealing Shane, and his handsome face came into view. His shirtless body revealing his perfectly shaped abs and his muscles, her eyes couldn’t help but observe this perfection as she kept on staring at his body while he stood in front of her like a statue displayed for sightseeing.

She gulped down into nothing still staring at him until she jerked out of her thoughts herself an her cheeks reddened in embarrassment as she realized he was watching as she gouged her eyes all over his body.

She bit her lips in embarrassment before raising her head slowly, he was a bit taller than her so she had to look up at him before their face could meet.

Her face met with his expressionless look and she moved back a bit and bowed a little before raising her head after mustering courage.

” Hmm.. Lady Macbeth wants you to come down for breakfast ” She said, after clearing her throat and he only nodded.

He staring at her with no expression on alone is making the situation tense up again.

” Um, I’ll take my leave now ” She said and without began waking away as fast as her legs could, without waiting for his reply

She heard the distant sound of his door closing and she breathe out the air she has been holding in and rushed downstairs.

” So, this is her? ” He asked, staring at the image on the phone he was holding. Shane nodded in approval as he sipped a little out of the content in the cup he was holding.

” She’s young.. ” He said and Shane hummed in response,, ” and pretty ” He completed before dropping the phone.

” So, no word from Brielle?, have you tried contacting her or any of her parents, or relatives? ” He asked and Shane let out a sigh as he dropped the cup he was holding.

” See Alec, I don’t care whatever reason it is that she had left, but I think she was being selfish, why would she suddenly leave when it’s just some few days to our wedding! ” He said as calm as he could but one could see the rage in his eyes as he said those words.

” Yeah, you’re right ” Alec said with a sigh, sipping down the content of the cup he was holding,, ” But you should have given her a call, atleast to be on the safer side, who knows if something went wrong? ” Alec added. Shane scoffed as he raised the cup to his mouth tip and sipped a little out of it before dropping the cup again.

” What?, Do you think I haven’t done that?, I called and texted her severally but she ignored them ” He said and Alec sighed.

” I don’t know what’s wrong, but I hope everything’s fine ” Alec muttered while Shane huffed.

Alec is Shane’s childhood best friend, he’s also a millionaire, his father owns one of the biggest empire In Australia and he has been there ever since both of them graduated from college. While Shane stayed in America, handling his own company together with his dad’s empire.

” So, the girl,, how are you coping with her?, I watched the conference meeting and I must say she really did a great job.. ”

” Um, yeah, she’s really doing a great job.. ” Shane replied, still sipping from his cup.

” How old is he? ” He asked.

” I heard she’s 18 “He replied.

” She’s pretty young ” Alec said and Shane nodded.

” So, you are not having troubles with her? ” He asked and Shane nodded.

” I am, or rather I was, tho we settled it,, ”

” And I’m still trying my best to understand,, I just think she’s different ” He said and Alec nodded, getting his point.

” Yeah, I’ve come across someone like that, and I found out ladies from a low-class family like her hates fancy things or let me say they dislike rich guys, they think we’re too proud, extravagant and spends money on unnecessary things “He said and Shane was suprised.

It’s just what’s happening with him right now, how come he knew all this.

Alec saw the inquisitive look on him and chuckled.

” It’s this girl I’m dating right now… ” He started and Shane dropped his cup before leaning in closer.

” You have a girl? ” He asked surprisingly and Alec chuckled.. ” Of course, dad wants me to get married soon ” He replied, sipping his drink.

” So, tell me, is she from a… ”

” Yeah, she’s from a low-class family, tho she now works in my company as my secretary ” He said and Shane chuckled.

” It seems, you’ve got her locked in your cradle ” He teased and Alec chuckled.

” So, how did you get to keep up with her, how were you able to understand her?,, ’cause I’m really trying my best to understand Layla but it just feels weird, all the girls I’ve ever dated including Brielle has no trait as her, she’s really different ” He said and Alec nodded,, ” Yeah, you’re right… ” He stopped to pour more wine into his cup and brought the cup closer to his mouth tip.

” It was the same here, Ann is really different and it took me a very long time before I could understand her,, ” He said and gulped down the content of the cup he was holding.

” So tell me how I can understand Layla ” Shane said and Alec turned to him with a raised brow,, ” Huh? ” He asked in suprise.

” What? ” Shane asked looking away as he emptied the content of the bottle into his cup.

” I’m sure you still remember that your wedding with this girl is fake, everything you two are doing right now is fake, they aren’t real, you have a wife ” He said and Shane scoffed.

” Come on, what’re you thinking?, I only wanted to know how you were able to understand her, that’s all ” He replied and Alec nodded.

” Alright, I’ll explain how ” He said and She turned to him.

Alec noticed Shane’s cup was empty and he had run out of wince, so he called out to the bar man and he returned with two bottles of wine.

” You really want me drunk, don’t you? ” Shane teased and he chuckled.

” Yep, I want you drunk so you could forget about everything, let out your emotions, I know you’re hurting inside but you’re trying not to show it ’cause you hide your emotions a lot, so… ” He paused briefly and dragged the bottles of wine to Shane’s side,, ” Drink up ” He said more like an order.

” Yes sir ” Shane teased and they both laughed.

Tho the marriage and relationship between Shane and Brielle was all a contract, still they both were in love with each other.

They had been informed about the contract right from college and they tried to get along with each other so it wouldn’t turn out to be a loveless marriage and they did, and stated dating after they had completed college tho it wasn’t really necessary.

Layla sighed for the umpteenth time as she kept rolling from one side of the bed to the other. She couldn’t sleep as she was unusually restless. And to cap that, Shane hasn’t returned home and weirdly she’s bothered.

She took a glance at Mirah who was sleeping peacefully beside her before she suddenly got down from the bed and after wearing her comfy slippers, she made her way out of the room.

She steathily made her way down the stairs so as not to attract anyone. Almost immediately the door pushed open and she rushed towards the light switch and turn it on, the light came on revealing Shane and his personal guard who carried him on his arms as he was drunk.

Layla rushed to them in suprise,, ” What’s going on? ” She asked, her eyes roaming about Shane’s body.

” He’s fine, he’s just drunk ” The guard replied and she sighed in relief.

” I should take him to his room ” The guard reminded and she muttered an *oh* before making way for him and he led the way while she followed behind.

They got to his suite and Layla helped in pushing the door open, she switched the light on and her mouth open in shock, his suite alone is a mansion on its own. It’s so wide and has lots of space in it.

She followed the guard as he carried Shane into his room abd dropped him on the bed.

” Thanks ” She muttered to him and he nodded and bowed lowly before making his way out of the room.

Layla sighed before sitting closer to him on the bed, she removed the strands of hair on his face and it seems he’s really sensitive even in his drunken state as he pulled her to the bed and snuggled her closer to him, tightening her in his arm.
