Chapter 133 That Girl From the Pantry

Damien gave Anne quite a big sum of money in order for the latter to keep his meeting with Theresa a

secret. He also had Anne call Clarissa again at night and inform Clarissa of her mother waking up from

coma.

Despite her confusion, Anne agreed and didn’t ask any questions.

Damien then ordered his assistants to do a thorough background check on Steven Johnson.

Six years ago, Damien injured his cornea by accident. The hospital told him there was a shortage of

corneas, so he was forced to wait.

He didn’t tell anyone about his condition, not even his grandparents.

Of course, this also included his parents who were currently working overseas at that time.

It was literally the darkest period of his life. He was basically living in darkness every day, waiting for his

turn to get a cornea transplant.

One day, when he was getting hot water from the pantry, he got distracted and caused the water to

overflow. He burnt his hands in the process.

she was fresh from crying.

Ever since then, Damien would go to the pantry. There, he would always meet the same girl. They

never exchanged any words, but the girl would always help him with getting water.

That went on for a week.

A week later, the doctor informed him that there was an extra cornea from a man who had just passed

away

After the surgery, Damien remained in the hospital for two months.

During that period, another girl entered his life. She told him that the cornea was from her father, and

that she came because she wanted to see how the receiver was doing.

She would accompany Damien to the pantry and hold his hands, but Damien felt that something was

off. The sensation wasn’t quite the same as the girl he met before. Even so, there was no other little girl

in the hospital except for her.

What was more, the first thing he saw when he took off the gauze was Madelynn.

Madelynn told him that she was the one who helped him in the pantry, and that she was sent there by

her father to observe Damien and determine if he was worthy of the cornea transplant. In return, her

father also hoped for Damien to take care of her and her family.

Damien then took up the responsibility to care for Madelynn and her mother.

He even got into a relationship with Madelynn at some point, but he always found it odd that Madelynn

felt so unfamiliar. Oftentimes, he couldn’t move on from the short period of time he had spent with that

mysterious girl in the pantry. After all, the girl wasn’t as talkative as Madelynn.

Damien’s assistant called him, and told him that Steven Johnson was indeed a patient of the hospital.

However, there was no record of this. It was as if Steven never existed.

“Someone must have deleted his record, President Lawrence. I will keep on investigating,” the

assistant said.

Damien hung up. If his assumptions were correct, Madelynn was the one who deleted the records.

As for now, he really wanted to know if Clarissa was that girl from the pantry, or if it was someone else.

After all, there were a lot of people in the hospital.
