Chapter 548 Purpose

"There is no comparison between the two matters." With a cold face, he made his stance clear again.

Harper smiled helplessly, "Why is there no comparison? Aren't these the same thing? Or is there something happened between you and Lauren, and you can't tell me?"

"Harper!" He bellowed, "The more you act like this, the more it means that you still love your so-called ex-boyfriend, right?"

Harper walked toward him, imitating his tone and attitude, and asked, "How about you? Do you still love Lauren?"

Benjamin sneered, "I've already told you. I don't have that feeling for Lauren."

"If not, why did you spend the night together in the hotel?" she asked in a low voice.

Harper only knew it was Lauren who came out of the hotel with Benjamin, but she didn't realize that it wasn't Lauren, nor did she know that Lauren had issued a statement to clarify that matter.

Therefore, she only knew that Lauren and Benjamin spent a night in the hotel and were photographed by the media when they went out the next day.

After she finished asking, Benjamin smiled with mockery, but he didn't continue to say anything else.

Benjamin bypassed her and walked out of the room. Harper did not catch up with him, and soon, she heard the sound of a car engine coming from outside the balcony.

He left.

"What's his purpose here?" Harper thought.

Then, she shook her head, and her mood became increasingly gloomy.

In fact, she and Benjamin were the same people. They were unwilling to lower their heads in some matters. Their tempers and personalities were stubborn, which was enough for the other party to feel their stalemate and attitude.

Harper walked to the sofa, sat down, and didn't move for a long time. Her face was as cold as ice, and she had not wholly calmed down her emotions.

"Benjamin refused to tell what happened between him and Lauren. Why did he stay in the hotel with her all night?" The more she thought about it, the more confused she became.

A person's imagination could make up a world, so she could only force herself to stop overthinking it.

When Benjamin came out of the villa, he instructed Curtis to drive him back to the hotel.

The atmosphere was so quiet along the way that they could hear each other's breathing. It was not until the car stopped at the door of the hotel that Benjamin opened his eyes and said in a low voice, "Take some time in the next two days to go to Dattlech in person and check on Frank and everyone related to Harper. I want to know whether they have ever been together."

Although Curtis had checked about them before, what he found was not thorough, so Benjamin did not believe it.

Curtis felt bitter inwardly but had no choice but to think of excuses first about what to tell if Harper found out later.

He stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, poured a glass of liquor, and drank it in one gulp, feeling the sting of alcohol as it slid across his throat, leaving a pain behind.

His deep eyes were cold, and a trace of viciousness could be seen on his face. He stood rooted like that for a long time.

The following day, everything was back to normal.

Curtis came over early in the morning to pick him up and go to the Martin Group. Dorcas also came from Teninus, and she had heard about what happened in Mayby in those days. The moment she saw Benjamin, Dorcas couldn't help laughing and joking, "Why are all of your love rivals so powerful? I feel that being Harper's husband is much more difficult than your role as the president of the Martin Group!"

Benjamin glanced at her indifferently and said, "You and the Martin Group team will be in charge of the second round of competition. This is a good opportunity for you to get to know each other and work together to facilitate future cooperation."

"Do you want to test my ability through the competition?"

"You can say that." Benjamin was straightforward.

Dorcas was speechless for a moment, then asked, "Will Harper continue to participate in the competition?"
