Accidentally Married

As soon as they entered the station and were led to the investigation room. Jessica saw Emma and Steve sitting there giving a testimony. As soon as her eyes landed on him he turned his head and they made eye contact.

Jessica turned and bumped her head into Xavier’s chest. “What’s wrong?” he asked as she pushed herself away from this chest and rubbed her forehead.

“I can’t go in there” she whispered.

“Why?” he asked.

“He’s the one,” she said a tear drop falling from her eyes. She does not believe that he would do something like that. He knew her and he knew the kind of person she was. How would it be possible that she would have multiple children and work in a bar?

Jessica knew that the rumor had begun from Emma. She was not shocked. She often wondered why she forced friendship with Emma when she did not think of her as a friend. She has often manipulated and lighted her when necessary.

She once spread a rumor about her being pregnant for Burke. This was when Burke started dating her in high school. The school was unable to determine the cause and origin of the rumor but she had a feeling.

Since evidence was never found nothing was done to stop them. Suddenly all the manipulation and disrespect she got over the years made sense in that moment. Emma has never been her friend.

“You have to go back in there and give your testimony or else they would think you are hiding because there is something to hide. Also, why are you the one running? He should be running because no one touches the Delgados without getting hurt” Xavier said as a stern expression climbed up his face.

Xavier took her hands in his and took her to the desk. The cop behind the desk stood up immediately he saw him approach them.

“Good evening sir” he greeted with so much respect.

Xavier nodded and looked around. His eyes fell on the both of them who were now sitting in the chair on the other side of the desk.

“You were the same one who physically assaulted Jessica the last time right?” Xavier said out loud.

He never forgot what that girl had done and he promised to get her back later. He was glad he did not have to go after her on his own but that she fell into his lap by herself. Now he can aggravate the issue without having any more challenges especially legal wise.

“Assault?” the cop grasped in fear. He pulled up her file. “But she does not have any record of it here” he murmured. He did not want to say that a Delgado was lying outright.

“Yes, it won’t appear on the file because my wife said she did not want to press charges” Xavier responded.

“Assault? I never committee something as serious as that”

“Oh yes, you did. I have two witnesses from that say who would play come in to tell the truth”

Suddenly it dawned on Emma that she might as well be in a serious mess. Xavier had the power to make do with her whatever he wanted to do. She concluded that she executed her plans prematurely and without thinking.

“Officer we would not settle, and we are ready to go to court if need be”

Xavier had made it clear that neither he nor Jessica wished to settle. He said that if he did not make Emma and her friend in crime examples to the city then others would go ahead to commit the same crime of slandering people without remorse.

Emma who had been on a high horse suddenly felt her world crash before her. She was going to have a record left on her clean slate because she tried to get back at her.

“See what you dragged me into,” Steve said calmly that it was almost scary.

“I dragged you into this” Emma laughed with a hinge of a howl. “You wanted to do it if you did not want to do it when I suggested it you should have backed out,” she told him narrowing her eyes.

She could not stand adding more blame to what she was already feeling. As it stands she was already so out of it that she did not need any extra drama.

“If we have to pay the penalty money you would have to be the one to pay. You were the source of the information” Steve said again.

He ran his hand through his head in frustration. He wondered why he gave in. He wondered why he could not accept that Jessica was not for him. He could not handle her rejecting him well.

Xavier was glad he was able to catch the culprit. He left the station after discussions with the head of the force. He wanted maximum punishment for both of them and he asked that the news be sent to the news.

He showed the evidence of the hate messages from Emma to himself. He wanted to also file a restraining order against her for himself and his family. He knew that people who went to great lengths never knew when to stop and that she was a potential threat, especially to Jessica.

“Thank you so much for today” Jessica murmured as they drove back to the house.

“There is no need to thank me. She has offended the whole Delgado family by going after you” Xavier said.

Jessica sighed. She looked back at her flawed life. She would not be having so many difficulties if she was born into a rich home like Xavier. She would not have met Burke who turned out to be a master heart breaker or Emma who is a serial terrorist or even Steve who seemed sweet at first but then turned out to be a devil too.

She would not have Olivia as an aunt and her life would have been better than it was at that moment.

“I won’t have a child,” she said out loud.

Xavier coughed uncomfortably. Her saying she wouldn’t give birth was like saying they were already having sex and she would try her best not to bring the child into the world.

“I know that our relationship is based solely on business and we can’t have a child together. I always thought that after the divorce I would get a child through artificial insemination but now that I think of it….” she trailed off as she thought back to her life.

“The child might face similar experiences to mine and I have no good childhood experiences. Everything was just a hardship and tears” she said a fake laugh escaping her lips.

“I can’t do that to the poor child” she added and shook her head. Tears fell from her eyes as she thought about it.
