Accidentally Married

Xavier felt his eyes flutter open and he looked around. A sharp pain surged through his head and he felt a throbbing pain.

He raised his hand to his face and clenched his fist. ‘I am awake’ he said to himself inwardly. His eyes darted as far as the room could see while he lay down. He looked beside him and saw a black space.

Did she not come back to the room yesterday? Or was she already running about her activities? He sat up slowly and felt the pain surge through his whole body like he was dragged around the house.

He looked around and his eyes landed on the clock on the wall. It was past ten am and he should not for any reason be at home again. His eyes fell to the table where a tray with different dishes sealed shut sat pretty.

He stood up and felt a headache. On the tray, a note and a bottle of aspirin with water in a cup sat pretty. He picked up the note and tried to steady his trembling hands in front of him to read the note.

“Such nice writing” he commented out loud.

He did not expect her to have such nice handwritten notes. They were looking better than most handwritten notes he had received from his countless secretaries in the past.

You were sleeping so peacefully that I did not want to wake you up, but I had to go to the restaurant. I have to interview the workers today. Have this meal and take some pain relief. See you later

He dropped the note on the table and then pulled a chair to himself and slid into it. He was unsure if she was now comfortable with him from the note but he knew he had to let it go and tell her to do so too.

He opened up the meal plates and had everything in them. She has been so busy lately that he barely had her meals and their late night meetings made it impossible for them to have her meals together.

He took the aspirin and decided to take a shower to feel better. He would skip work and show up at her restaurant for the first time. It was even high time that he saw the place too.

He would apologize for his error and attitude and for showing up at home drunk and he would see her restaurant too. He was going to kill two birds with a stone.

He came out of his room dressed casually. Since he was not going into the office today her did not need to be all formal and Jessica had complimented him in casuals before. He had to appeal to her for him to successfully achieve his goal.

His phone rang and he rolled his eyes at the name on the screen. Brian was the reason he came home drunk last night. Although he was unsure of what he did he hoped he did not do anything to offend her any further. He had to go to her to check these things before it got too late.

“Maybe you should submit a resignation letter”

“What did I do?” Xavier asked like a kid throwing a major tantrum.

“You know what you did, sending me home while I was drunk. What if I did something to Jessica?”

“What could you possibly do to your wife that would be so wrong?”

Xavier fell silent. It was not wrong for a couple to engage in romantic activities but he and Jessica were not like that. They had never been like that. “It is even your fault I was drunk. Why did you take me to that bar?” he asked angrily.

“I thought you needed a drink and I was damn right”

“Whatever,” Xavier said shutting him up before he could continue rambling on.

“Are you going to be coming into the office today? It is a little way past your normal resumption time so I had to confirm your availability for any scheduled meetings” Brian asked

“I won’t be coming in today”

“Why? Do you have a terrible hangover?”

“Yes and I owe my throbbing head to your diligence to make me drunk,” Xavier remarked slyly.

“Then I would reschedule every meeting slated for today to next week Wednesday which is your birthday”

“It’s a year already?” Xavier asked feeling emotional.

He had never been one to celebrate his birthday openly but he had a secret session where he treated himself to a very elaborate meal.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Are you going to be bringing the Mrs. to the secret bash this year?”

“Why would I bring her? It would ruin the secret”

Brian was aware of the surprise birthday party that Jessica was planning for Xavier but only because Leslie told him and he swore to never tell Xavier.

He thought that since Jessica was planning a birthday they were getting close and that he would be comfortable with having her eat with him for the event.

“Okay, so I would prepare the normal birthday bash celebration then. Have a nice day” Brian said going off before Xavier could express himself any further.

Xavier stood a few moments before going down the stairs to meet Dawson about to go up with Roselle pushing him.

“One would think I do not have a grandson any longer. Jessica even checks up on me better than you do” Dawson remarks as he sees his son step on the base of the staircase.

“Oh come I’ve been busy running the company”

“And going on dates” Roselle adds in a teasing voice.

“Dates?” Xavier said in a denying voice. Was Jessica telling everyone at home what they do whenever they go out? They had never termed it dates so why would Roselle call it that?

“Why am I just hearing this now?” Dawson said in excitement as he turned to Roselle who was behind him.

“I just heard from the drivers too that the young master and lady have been going out frequently at night these days”

“Oh if that’s what he has been doing then I permit him. No need to see me any longer just bring a great grandchild for me” Dawson interrupted.

“Papa no one is going on any dates and no one is having children. I will be back in the evening and I will come to see you. I have a few things to ask you as regards the company affairs” Xavier said walking away.

“Have fun on your date” Roselle called after him.

“It’s not a date” he shouted back at her.
