Accidentally Married

“Can you calm down and tell me what is going on?” Jessica called after Xavier as he stormed into the house.

“Tell me” Xavier shouted into the phone as he put it to his ears. Genevieve came out of the kitchen to stand beside Jessica.

“What’s wrong? Why does he look all worked up?” she asked in a whisper. He had left the house all happy so to her it did not make sense that they were back in less than an hour and now he was screaming at the top of his voice into the phone.

“I don’t know, he received a call while we were out and he hurried back. He had been on edge since he got off the call. Also, he drove too fast back” she explained.

“Maybe something had gone wrong at the office that needs resolving?” she asked.

“I guess,” she said pulling Genevieve into the kitchen. To be honest Xavier’s aura at the moment made her shiver. She has seen him mad a couple of times but this time it seemed like he was going to explode if it was not sorted out immediately.

“I have been able to trace a signal and it is coming from a remote part of the city,” the investigator said over the phone.

“So why are you telling me this? Have her home into the police station immediately” He screamed.

The man over the other end of the phone cowered at the sound of his voice. Xavier had always been a man who exuded great power and confidence but at the moment it seemed like he could kill tens of thousands of people.

“Jessica we need to go out” he added. His voice was still high but he had toned it down a notch because he did not want her to be afraid.

“To where?” she asked timidly popping her head through the kitchen door.

He heard her voice but couldn’t see her. “We have to go to the police station immediately,” he told her.

She came out with a knife in her hand. For her cooking was like therapy and he loved doing it. While Xavier was stressing about the situation she decided to make dinner. She did not know what the situation was but she knew she would most likely not be able to control it.

“Why the station?” she asked widening her eyes in fear and moving closer.

“Drop the knife,” he said lowering the hand that was pointing the knife towards him. “There was a serious slander on you and you need to go in to give your statement”

“Roselle or whoever is there” Xavier called out. Angel came out and bowed her head. Xavier collected the knife and handed it over to Angel.

“Bring her things, we need to be on our way now,” he told Angel.

Angel nodded and went into the kitchen. She brought out the things Jessica had put on the chair in the kitchen. Jessica seemed listless.

She knew that she would forever get trolled but she did not know that she would face another one so quickly after the first one.

“Don’t you worry I will make sure those who started the rumor pay”

Jessica sits in the car and reads through the post made by a mysterious social media page. She also noticed that True News carried the news as well.

She knew that Steve was the CEO at True News but what she did not understand was why he would authorize that she be attacked. She always thought they were friends. The reason for his sudden distance from them was unknown to her.

When he confessed to her she was already in love with Xavier and had confessed to him. She turned him down and he took it in good faith telling her that they could remain friends.

Maybe one of the page handlers saw the post and decided it was a good story to generate buzz. She felt naked all of a sudden. She hated that she was thrown into this life. What did she ever do to deserve the backlash from people? They did not even know her.

She looked at the comments and it was obvious that people believed whoever it was that posted it.

“Don’t worry, they have caught the person who made the main post and the person who spread it through True News. The police just need a statement from you”

“What?” she said distracted.

Xavier understood he tried to keep calm now that he had told her. The both of them could not be confused as it would cloud their judgment.

Xavier had instructed that the culprits be brought to the police headquarters where he would be meeting them. He drove carefully to the station. When they left the ice cream parlor to the house he drove so fast that Jessica feared for her life.

This time seeing the fear on her face made him slow down and take it easy. She kept humbling incoherent words that he could not hear.

“It can’t be!” she exclaimed as she thought it through. “There is no way he can do it” she murmured as she fidgeted with her hands going into each other.

“Do you know who did it?”

“The thing is that I know the owner of True News. He used to be my friend from the orphanage home but I have not heard from him in a while”

“Do you think he could have done this?”

“I hope not. I have not seen him in a while and it would be wrong if this is the way we get to see each other after college” she said her voice low.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

“Moreover Steve is such a sweet guy, he will never do something like that and even especially to me. We were friends” she added.

Somehow she she was trying to convince herself that there was no way that man would do something like that to her. He had a soft spot for her and he was a sweet person who could hardly hurt a fly.

Xavier drove into the parking lot of the station and turned off the ignition.

“I just want you to know that it doesn’t matter what they are saying I believe whatever it is you have to say”
