Accidentally Married

“Why don’t you call Jessica?”

“Why I thought you said they were on honeymoon and that I should not call them no matter what happens?” Leslie asked.

She was preparing to go have lunch with some ladies. Alicia had invited them to treat them and thank them for coming and bringing their partners to her event.

She sat on the stool close to the vanity table as she attempted to carry out the task of putting on her make-up by herself.

“I just received a call from Xavier,” Brian said wiggling his phone in the air. Leslie watched him from the mirror.

“I know very well that Mr. Delgado would be unable to stay away from work,” she said with a bitter taste in her mouth as she said, Delgado. She pitied Jessica for ending up with someone who did not care for others.

“Funnily he did not call for work, he asked strange questions” Brian sat down confused and trying to decipher the questions he had been asked. They were questions that he did not imagine Xavier asking in a million years.

“What did he call for then?” Leslie asked curiously as she turned on the stool to face her husband who was seated on the bed.

“I usually know how to answer and handle Xavier but today I am lost for words”

“What is it?”

“Why don’t you see if everything is okay with Jessica”

Leslie stared at her husband as she reached for her phone. She was confused about his reaction. “Is Jessica in danger? Is he contemplating the divorce still? No way I know Xavier at least he is a man after his words. He’s a gentleman and there is no way he would harm Jessica” she said all at once.

She tapped on her phone and dialed Jessica’s number and after three rings she picked up. Her voice was chirpy and calming. It was like she was having a good day.

“Hello,” Jessica said in a high-pitched voice.

“Someone seems happy?” Leslie said after hearing Jessica’s voice.

“Does it show?” she whispered.

“Oh yes, it does. What’s up with your honeymoon? I know I’m not supposed to call you while you are at it but my husband kept insisting that I do so”

“At what?” Jessica asked while laughing in a whisper.

“All the funny things you do that make you sound so excited like you sound now”

“Nothing like that happened” Jessica dismissed. “Two people staying at a house away from home”

“Come on girl you can only fool the single women. I am married and I have a full working idea of what goes on during the honeymoon”

“Leslie” she shouted in a whisper. She did not want Xavier who was currently washing up to know what was going on outside with her.

“You know the way he is and the terms of our marriage. I doubt if anything as such would ever happen” she said but still with excitement.

“So what got you all excited?” Leslie wondered why she sounded excited while saying something sad.

“I am going to an amusement park”

“With Xavier? Do you mean that the Almighty stuck up Mr. Delgado is taking you out on a date?” Leslie’s shock could not be hidden.

“Yes”

“What? I am sure you don’t mean it or maybe you are mistaken?” Leslie asked.

She knew Xavier well he was her long-term crush. She followed him everywhere and she had never seen him smile to any girl. It was impossible for her to fathom his taking a woman out on a date.

“Did you ask him to?” Leslie continued.

“I will talk to you later,” Jessica said cutting off the phone without any explanation.

“She hung up on me,” Leslie said turning to face her husband who had come to stand by her side. He had been curious because of the request he got from Xavier that morning.

“Did anything seem strange?” Brain asked.

“Oh yes, it did. A whole lot of things did seem strange. For starters, Jessica sounded excited like something romantic happened to her and I know Xavier is not the one to do anything romantic”

“Right?” Brian cut her off before she could go any further. “I got a strange call from him earlier. He wanted to know what activities made girls excited and how to act romantic”

“What?” Leslie screamed. “He was asking how to be romantic. Do you think that he had fallen in love with her?”

“I asked him the same but he only said he was doing so because she said it had been her dream to have a romantic husband” Brian explained.Content © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Even I can’t wrap my mind around it. It’s all strange and doesn’t make any sense” he added going back to sit on the bed.

“Jessica mentioned she was going to the amusement park. She said he was taking her there. It was a date” Leslie rambled on.

“Something is definitely going on and the only way we can get to the bottom of it would be when we can see them both,” Brian said with a sigh. “I would actually jump for joy if they fall in love and decide to live together” he added.

“Same here” Leslie turned back to the mirror to complete her make up. “I will call her later but for now I have to meet up with the lunch meet with Alicia”

“I can drop you off as I go in to work,” Brian said entering the closet to change his clothes.

Both of them stepped out of the house in a little while and Brian drove Leslie to her lunch meet before going into the office.
